Homeschool Days

Homeschooling parents and cooperatives-- we're planning special dates each month for your student(s) to participate in our unique 2-hour onboard educational field studies!  Schedule for your student, or for your homeschool association!  Our vessel holds up to 33 passengers at a time.    (Also, don't forget to check out our RiverTales programs that can visit your homeschool association November through March!)

  • Groups of 8 or more students should send one chaperone. 
  • Groups of 15 or more should send two chaperones. 
  • Additional chaperones will be accommodated as space allows. Chaperones are expected to participate and to maintain their role as leader of the group.
  • Note that students and student groups will be working together on board!

 

Grade Level: varies, see each program listed below

Fee:  $15/student; $10/chaperone

How to register: Call 412-231-2712 between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm weekdays to register.  Please note grade levels for each program!  Payment is accepted by credit card or check.   Trips run rain or shine! 

NOTE: October's day is postponed until spring.

Green Science & Alternative Energy Excursion

Grades 6-12

Check out green buildings we can see from the rivers. Use solar-powered hydrogen fuel cell kits and biofuel molecular models to shed light on the future of alternative energy sources and the science of going "green."

Departure Times: 9:00 am & 12:00 pm

Homeschool Days will resume in 2008.
