TEACHING CREW

RiverQuest is accepting applications for fall part-time WEEKDAY and WEEKEND education/docent staff.

Qualified individuals have a unique opportunity to teach science, math, and environmental education onboard our floating classroom. The current season begins with mid-February training and runs through mid to late June. Teaching staff can also serve as customer service stewards, teaching crew leaders, and offsite presenters. 

These are part-time SEASONAL positions, generally 2-5 days per week in season, 4-8+hour days.  Teaching crew members are hired to work daytime, evening and weekend hours.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in education, science or related field
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: freshwater ecosystems, water quality, navigation, aquatic life, green science & sustainability
  • Previous teaching experience in formal or non-formal setting preferred
  • Enjoy working with children and the public
  • Willingness to work in the outdoors, around water, and onboard a boat
  • Act 34/151 clearances
  • Pre-employment Drug Testing and Random Drug Testing program participation

 

BOAT CREW (CAPTAINS and DECKHANDS)

While there are no positions currently open, resumes may be submitted year round. Boat crew members assist with the operation and maintenance of the vessels. These are part-time SEASONAL positions, generally 2-5 days per week in season, 4-8+hour days. Boat crew members are hired to work daytime, evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must enjoy working with children and the public, at dock and on the water
  • Experience on boats and light mechanical skills are a plus but are not required
  • Act 34/151 clearance
  • Pre-employment Drug Testing and Random Drug Testing program participation
  • Captains are required to have a 100-ton masters license
