PITTSBURGH VOYAGER TO OFFER RIVER 'CRUISES'
AT VENTURE OUTDOORS FESTIVAL

River-based education organization will provide free cruises and science and nautical-themed activities for children and adults

PITTSBURGH, PA - Pittsburgh Voyager, the Pittsburgh-based not-for-profit environmental education organization that operates a fleet of floating classrooms on the region's rivers, will participate in the Venture Outdoors Festival, Saturday May 20, 2006.

Two of Pittsburgh Voyager's vessels will participate in the festivities: Beginning at 10 a.m. Voyager will be moored near Heinz Field and will offer a range of science and nautical-themed activities for children and adults throughout the day. Another vessel, Discovery, will arrive late morning and will be available for brief river cruises hourly from 12 noon through 4 p.m.

Although all of the activities are free of charge, persons interested in the cruises are asked to stop by at Pittsburgh Voyager's exhibit during festival hours on May 20. No reservations will be accepted prior to May 20. Voyager's participation is the Venture Outdoors Festival is made possible by support provided by the Allegheny Regional Asset District (ARAD).

Voyager staff will be on hand to accept reservations for its summer camp programs, and provide information about its new environmentally-friendly flagship vessel that will arrive in Pittsburgh later this year.

The Venture Outdoors Festival, sponsored by UPMC Health Plan, is a free event where individuals and families can sample the many outdoor activities available in the region. Other activities available at the event include canoeing, kayaking, biking, dragon boats, rock climbing, inline skating, fishing and more.
